Where have the Days Gone?

Sincerest apologies both for the very long blog last week followed by a missed Sunday this week. I hope you'll forgive the oversight. I simply lost track of what day it was.

Since returning from London (and facing a delayed flight and nearly getting stranded in Dallas) I have been going literally non stop. Let me recount the days:

Friday July 1: Landed at 9:30. Tenshi picked me up stealing me away from my family so she could receive the presents I brought her back from across the little pond. After being up for about 22 hrs, I promptly fell asleep.

Saturday: Brunch with Spotty Sister, who was in town, Tenshi, and Dungeon Daddy at a pancake and coffee place. Checking off good restaurants to eat hear before moving to Columbus. Dungeon Daddy drove me back home, where I had a family barbecue and we showed Tia Favorita and my grandparents pictures from out trip. I passed out early again around midnight and slept on the couch. No bed at the inn as they say.

Sunday: Went to Heavy Spy's place to play DnD with Dungeon Daddy and a few others. Celebrating Heavy Spy's birthday, which I had missed. Drove home late. My roomies weren't even sure if I was still in the country.

Monday: 4th of July- Tenshi and I spent it at Diet Lemonades house catching up with Bridges, Nemesis, Clark, Brock, Alejandro, Mama G, Mustang Alley, Settler Type, and RC Tequila, our long lost friend back home with us after a very harrowing year.

Tuesday: Back to work, I was productive and also borrowed a guitar from Whedon Watchedit, which I am now slowly teaching myself to play. This was also Spotty Sister's last night here, so Heavy Spy, Dungeon Daddy and myself went to get some breakfast and chicken with her, Tenshi and their older sister and her bf.

Wednesday: After work Tenshi and I went out with Steakhouse and El Bandito for drinks and dollar tacos. I think I missed soul food and Mexican food while in Europe. This explains my diet of late...

Thursday: More DnD with the guys. We are trying to be consistent. These nights also tend to end in tacos from Jack in the Box. Nom Nom.

Friday: Out with the 4th of July crew again. Bars in Hipsterland. Very nostalgic evening, discussing how we all first met and early impressions from 6 years ago(!!). This group has been my family and this summer I feel like we've finally all hung out together and I'm leaving for a while. Sadface.

Saturday: Beach day with the "family" I just mentioned followed by Pokeboss' garden party with Captain Peanut, Red Button, King Wrangler, Fall Girl and Terrific Craniac, who was my winning partner in Cranium. It was a lovely, outdoor dinner at the picnic table and Pokeboss and Red Button did a great job barbecuing and preparing the food. Great conversation and adventures in dishwashing concluded a great day.

Sunday: Just another day at a super happy place. Tenshi and I are completionists, going through each area and trying everything in it in one day. Including like food and shops and stuff. I got soaked from this kid behind me on the canoes. We also met up with King Wrangler, her gf, Terrific Craniac, and another staff member for some more fun bonding. I stopped by my house to see my folks and then after dropping Tenshi off I was exhausted and passed out upon driving home.

So I forgot my blog. You can see why my days are blurring together. Today was the first day since returning that I got home at reasonable hour and didn't have anywhere else to be. And that was after lunch with Naysayer P. Squirrel, Steakhouse (who's his housemate right now) and Whedon Watchedit and dinner with him again as well as Captain Peanut, his gf, and Pokeboss. So it wasn't like I didn't do anything today either.

Clark tells me I need a break. I'm supposed to be watching a bunch of must see movies before we are no longer roommates, so I better get on it. I'm also apartment hunting, practicing the guitar, and supposed to be transcribing my grandma's memoirs. And I leave on Thursday for a Vegas rendezvous with Spam Boa. So yea. Busy times for summer. But I like it.

Other thoughts on this fine blogging evening:

I am trying to change my stars by learning guitar. I have absolutely no artistic talent. Drawing, painting, musical instruments, singing. None. Zero. Zippy. Yet I am going to teach myself the guitar via Youtube. This is my goal. so far, I am not practicing enough. But I shall be stubborn about this, as I am stubborn about this blog. (hmm today may not be a good time to make that connection). In two months, I hope to have practiced enough that I can determine if I want my own guitar or not. Here's to trying new things!

I haven't played nearly as many video games as I wanted to this summer. I feel like I have so much to catch up on and yet, I just haven't had time. I've been living vicariously through Clark, who is replaying Twilight Princess, which I've decided is one of my favorite games of all time, even if it was a little easy.

I have been reading more. I just finished The Name of the Wind which was EXCELLENT. I gave it to Dungeon Daddy who I already have 9 books into the Wheel of Time but I told him that perhaps he should take a break with this book. I also read V for Vendetta, which I bought two years ago and never got through. It's a bit different from the movie, and I think I do like the movie better, but it was good.

These last few weeks have really rekindled my English major side. I mean, I wrote the first poem I've written in months, I saw all my favorite authors' memorials, I read two books and made significant headway into a third, and I'm beginning to write the memoirs. All in all I'm in a happy place. These parts of me that have been dormant have been rekindled. It almost makes me question my graduate school decision, but I think Higher Education is my workplace and English major is part of my soul. I can counsel and education and help develop myself and others and that English major background can help me do that work. It's very comforting to get in touch with yourself on such a deep level, even if only in glimpses.

I think that's all I have to say today. I have a feeling that very soon I'll be doing more cooking, so be on the lookout for weekday blogs. Sorry again for the late update. Hope you enjoy!

Adios!

Reading- Time to retackle Shadow in the Wind again after V for Vendetta and The Name of the Wind. I also want the sequel to Name...

Listening to: Zelda music, ahh nostalgia and the peaceful Sky Temple music floating from the living room.

Playing: Chrono Trigger on the DS.
